District Rotary Foundation Committee 2025 – 26

Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever.

As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we’ve reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.

Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect nearly 3 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease. Rotary’s advocacy efforts have played a role in decisions by governments to contribute more than $10 billion to the effort.

Today, polio remains endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan. But it’s crucial to continue working to keep other countries polio-free. If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year.

On March 1, 2026 (Sunday), District 3450 will hold our icon End Polio event at Tseung Kwan O, “We run to end Polio”. It will be Hong Kong’s turn to raise funds to end polio. Come and join us to enjoy a nice waterfront run / walk and to raise funds to end polio.

Rotary Clubs are encouraged to sponsor in one of these categories of US$1,600, US$1,100 or US$800.  Sponsorship payment will go to the “PolioPlus Fund” under Rotary International directly, this can be done via MyRotary website.

As we have approached halfway of this Rotary Year, we give a summary of the funds raised so far.

Up to 27 January 2026, the total funds raised are:

Thanks for all your support and contribution. We believe the annual goal of raising US$ 1 million will be achieved soon.

The District Rotary Foundation Committee takes this opportunity to wish you a very prosperous Year of the Horse blessed with abundance and good health.
