Introduction to District Governor Nominee Designate – Henry Wong

Henry Wong has spent most of his career in corporate banking and wealth management, but the role that has shaped him the most is being a Rotarian. He first connected with Rotary as a student and officially joined the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island West in 2010. Since then, the club has become a second home where he has grown through service, friendship and leadership.
Henry grew up between Hong Kong and Toronto, with family roots also in Macau, and this mix of cultures strongly shaped how he sees the world. He studied economics and finance in Canada, the United States and Hong Kong, and later took on leadership roles helping families and businesses plan for the future. Along the way, he discovered that the skills he uses at work—listening, building trust and thinking long term—are exactly what Rotary also needs.
Family is at the centre of Henry’s life. He and his wife Karen are parents to three young children, and he often says that career, family and Rotary do not compete with each other—they support one another. His Rotary journey has been closely intertwined with key moments in his life, and many of his closest friends are fellow Rotarians who have walked alongside him through different seasons.
Within the District, Henry has taken on a wide range of roles in youth service, foundation fellowship and training. He has worked closely with Rotarians, Rotaractors and young leaders, helped clubs run projects and events, and supported initiatives that bring clean water, education, youth development and opportunity to those in need. He is also a strong supporter of The Rotary Foundation and believes in leading by example when it comes to giving.
For Henry, Rotary is not just an organisation—it is a community built on the simple idea of putting “Service Above Self” into daily action. As a future leader of Rotary International District 3450, he hopes to create an environment where members feel heard, supported and inspired. His priorities include helping clubs grow in a healthy and sustainable way, rebuilding important partnerships in the community, improving communication and transparency, and making better use of technology so that Rotary stays relevant to the next generation.
Above all, Henry believes that real leadership is about rolling up our sleeves together and doing meaningful work that outlives any one person. He is ready to serve alongside Rotarians in Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia and the Guangdong Province to build a district that listens, serves and grows—together. A strong district is built one strong club, one meaningful project and one inspired member at a time.
