Message from DG Cassy Cheng
Dear fellow People of Action,

As we begin the Year of the Horse, I wish you all a prosperous and fulfilling year ahead! I trust you are prepared for the opportunities and challenges that await us, and I remain inspired by your active participation in District events.
A recent highlight was the Rotary Hong Kong Ultramarathon cum End Polio Walk. Despite a gentle drizzle that added to the charm of the day, we attracted over 2,800 participants—a record turnout! This event is particularly meaningful, as polio once devastated communities worldwide, paralyzing hundreds of thousands of children annually. That’s why Rotary became a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1985, contributing over US$2.6 billion to immunization efforts. Today, wild polio is endemic only in Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, as long as it exists anywhere, it remains a threat everywhere. We must press on with unwavering determination until we eradicate this disease completely.

I am pleased to share some District updates. On 20 February 2026, the Rotary Club of Chaozhou in the People’s Republic of China was officially chartered with 28 members, marking the beginning of their Rotary journey in Area 8. Let’s welcome this new club as they embark on their path with confidence and fellowship.
Regarding the District Governor Nominee Designate election, PP Henry Wong of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island West was duly elected as District Governor Nominee Designate of Rotary International District 3450. Congratulations to PP Henry Wong! I would also like to acknowledge the contributions of PP Alexander Cheung (Rotary Club of Kwun Tong), CP Tobi Doeringer (Rotary Club of Shouson Hill), and PP Adrian Lau (Rotary Club of Star Avenue) for enriching the tradition of leadership within Rotary.

February was a vibrant month of fellowship and service across the District. From the District Golf Tournament on 6 February, to the Rotaract Spring Dinner on 7 February, and the District Blind Bowling event on 8 February, each activity reflected the spirit of inclusion, friendship, and service, strengthening our Rotary community through shared moments of joy.

March is Rotary’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month – a time to remember that access to clean water and proper sanitation is fundamental to health, dignity, and opportunity. Whether through service projects, education, or partnerships, meaningful impact often begins with practical solutions that improve daily life, especially for vulnerable communities.
With your continued dedication, professionalism, and care, our District will keep moving forward, deepening our bonds through service and creating positive change together.

In fellowship we serve,
DG Cassy Cheng
