Message from DG Cassy Cheng

Dear fellow People of Action,

Many clubs are entering a true season of harvest—bringing signature projects to life and turning months of planning into real service outcomes. It has been encouraging to see steady momentum across District 3450 as we approach our year-end milestones.

It has now been a month since our historic Xinjiang journey, with around 120 Rotarians, family members and crews visiting Tian Shan. We were the first delegation to visit a school in Yili, where the students gave us a warm welcome and prepared gifts for every visitor. In return, we presented them with a book on glacier protection. Most significantly, we established our first landmark at the Tian Shan glacier research base—a historic achievement for District 3450 in China. What makes this truly special is our ongoing partnership with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. They will train our members as glacier ambassadors, and together we will share conservation knowledge with schools for years to come. Details on how clubs can participate will be announced soon.

May is Youth Service Month—a time to invest in the next generation through Interact, Rotaract, RYLA, and Youth Exchange. Even before May began, we saw inspiring youth development in action, such as the Hong Kong and Macau School Putonghua Business Pitching Competition, where students showcased how AI and communication skills can shape future entrepreneurship.

Our 66th District Conference is almost here (May 30–31 at Nina Hotel Tsuen Wan West). As our signature annual event, it’s the perfect opportunity to come together, celebrate our achievements, and look ahead. I encourage all clubs to mobilise and register—let’s close the Rotary year with powerful fellowship and energy.

親愛的扶輪行動夥伴們：

許多扶輪社正迎來真正的收穫季節——將年度重點服務計劃付諸實踐，把數月的規劃轉化為實實在在的服務成果。眼看年終將近，3450地區的穩健動力令人鼓舞。

距離我們的新疆之旅已有一個月，當日約有120位扶輪社友、家人及工作人員一同到訪天山。我們是首個前往伊犁一所學校參觀的代表團，學生們給予我們熱烈的歡迎，並為每位訪客準備了禮物；我們則回贈了一本關於冰川保護的書籍。最為重要的是，我們在天山冰川研究基地豎立了第一個地標——這是3450地區在中國的一個歷史性成就。更難能可貴的是，我們與中國科學院西北生態環境資源研究院建立了持續的合作關係。他們將培訓社友成為「冰川大使」，在未來數年前往學校持續推廣環保的相關知識。參與的具體詳情將稍後公布。
