Message from DG Cassy Cheng
Dear fellow People of Action,
As our Rotary year draws to a close, this is a meaningful moment to look back on all we have achieved together. I am deeply grateful for your dedication and for the many ways you have embodied the spirit of “Service Above Self.”

June is Rotary Fellowships Month—a time to celebrate the international friendships and global connections that bind Rotarians together. With the RI Convention held in Taipei this month, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow Rotarians from around the world. I was delighted to see many of our club members visiting their sister clubs in Taipei and sharing moments of fellowship and joy.

A total of 283 Rotarians from District 3450 registered for the Convention—a remarkable showing that reflects our district’s enthusiasm. The programme was inspiring and enriching, featuring thought-provoking plenary sessions, impactful service showcases, and invaluable networking opportunities. It was a truly rewarding experience.

While in Taipei, we hosted the Governor’s Banquet on June 15 under the theme “Body, Mind & Soul—Grateful for Our Journey,” with nearly 300 guests joining us for a wonderful evening of celebration. My heartfelt thanks go to the hard-working Presidents Convenors Team, and to my dear Chief District Secretary, Alexander Cheung, for his wholehearted support throughout the year. My gratitude also extends to all Rotarians whose support made this event possible.

On June 19, we made history by hosting the first-ever Rotary Cup Dragon Boat Competition at the Shatin Dragon Boat Festival, with six teams competing. This was our District’s final sports, wellness, and fellowship event of the year, bringing our Rotary term to a memorable close. The races were broadcast live on TVB, giving Rotary valuable exposure and allowing the public to share in the excitement. Even from the shore, we could feel the energy and team spirit—it was a wonderful celebration of teamwork and camaraderie.

On June 23, we held our final Joint Presidents Meeting, with over 160 Presidents and Presidents-Elect in attendance. I am pleased to report that 97 out of 122 clubs submitted their District Award, allowing us to recognise their activity and contributions throughout the year. Certificates were presented to honour each club’s hard work and dedication—not just as recognition, but as a testament to the collective effort and time invested by every club in serving our communities.

Unexpectedly, this month remained as busy as ever. We made two significant donations: HK$400,000 to the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) to support their Wang Fok Court services, and HK$350,000 to the VTC Student Scholarship, continuing the scholarship programme that Rotary D3450 has championed since 2015 to help students improve their lives and achieve their career aspirations.

We are also grateful for the Department of Justice inviting Rotary to participate in the “Train-the-Leaders Programme on Rule of Law Education (ROLE)“ on June 26–27, with 30 Rotarians attending. This served as the final district event of our Rotary year. The two-day course was accessible and engaging, bringing legal concepts into everyday life for participants of all ages. It was a unique opportunity for Rotarians and Lions to sit together with community leaders from all 18 districts, learning and exchanging ideas. I was delighted to see our members fully engaged throughout the programme, and I look forward to seeing this new cohort of “ROLE Ambassadors” share legal knowledge with our communities, helping more people understand and respect the rule of law.

Finally, clubs are reminded to complete their Club Excellence Award goals and report their achievements in Rotary Club Central by 30 June.
As I bring this letter to a close, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Through service, fellowship, membership development, Foundation support, public image, and through moments of both challenge and joy, you have given so generously to our Rotary family. Together, we have strengthened our District and served our communities with warmth, professionalism, and purpose. The spirit of “Unite for Good” must carry on as we continue to work together to create lasting impact in our community and beyond.
In fellowship we serve,
DG Cassy Cheng

Rotary International District 3450
