District leaders convene to align goals, celebrate milestones, and embrace the theme of Unite for Good.

The first District Management Committee (DMC) Meeting of Rotary Year 2025–26 was successfully convened on July 8, bringing together the District Governor, Past and Future District Governors, Assistant Governors, District Officers, and Committee Chairs for a productive evening of strategic dialogue and fellowship.

The DMC Meeting serves as a key monthly forum for district leadership to coordinate plans, review progress across areas and committees, and align on Rotary’s shared priorities for the year.

District Governor Cassy Cheng opened the meeting with a message emphasizing purposeful leadership and inclusive collaboration under the year’s Presidential message, Unite for Good. “I want each of you to enjoy your year,” she said. “Find fulfilment in your roles. Let’s grow Rotary — and each other.”

District Secretary Eddy Lo facilitated the proceedings, guiding over a dozen area and committee presentations with agility and warmth. Assistant Governors reported encouraging progress across membership targets, global grant planning, and service initiatives — notably projects related to sports and wellness, maternal and child health, vocational development, and community economic empowerment. Several areas also shared joint service plans and regional fellowship events.

A highlight came when President Helen Or led a storytelling workshop, a pioneering initiative of DMC meeting that invited participants to craft concise, personal narratives anchored by a single meaningful word. Her message emphasized clarity, adaptability, and emotional resonance — reminding Rotarians that every service moment can be a chance to inspire.

Committee Chairs outlined their respective goals for the year. Membership Chair PDG Eric Chak shared insights into district-wide growth and retention trends, while Foundation Chair PDG Wilson Cheng offered updates on District Designated Fund allocations and encouraged early grant applications. DEI Chair PDG Ada Cheng advocatedbringing people together to create positive change and reinforced that a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture is essential; Public Image Chair PDG Keith Chow emphasizedthe focus on unified branding through social media, learning seminars and speaker pool; Health Chair PP Francois Fong promoted health initiatives from blood donation to mental health first aid and wellness programme; Youth Service Committee Representative DDS Helen Chan introduced the initiatives for revitalizing and strengthening Interact Clubs, workshops on Youth Entrepreneurship, youth exchange and RYLA; Vocational Service Committee Representative DGN Frank Chan shared a vocational visit to Qianhai, DRC Gabriel Wong & DRR Billy Ho cascadedthe aims of boosting membership through engagement and Rotary integration, and DS (Mongolia) Joao Pinto appealed for members’ participation in the DG Visit to Mongolia trip in August.

Last but not least, CDS Alexander Cheung appealed for close horizontal communications within the District team and explained the channels that the team could utilize.

DG Cassy concluded the meeting by encouraging leaders to support each other through trust, humility, and a shared purpose. She highlighted the importance of collaboration among committees and stated that improved cooperation and stronger connections could increase overall impact and effectiveness.

With the July DMC setting a tone of collaboration, optimism, and purpose, the District embarks on the new Rotary year truly Unite for Good.
