Message from DG Cassy Cheng

Dear fellow People of Action,

August has been a truly rewarding month, especially with my official visit to Areas 9 and 10 from August 21 to 26. This kicked off my District Governor Visit across Rotary Int’l District 3450. It was my 4th trip to Mongolia, but my 1st as District Governor, and I was profoundly moved by the warm welcome and hospitality shown by our fellow Rotarians there.

During the DG Visit with Rotarians in Mongolia, I was impressed by the impactful and sustainable community service projects they have implemented. As we enter September — Basic Education and Literacy Month —it was inspiring to see how closely their efforts align with this focus. Their initiatives include building libraries, awarding scholarships, and improving school infrastructure, all of which address critical community needs and create lasting positive change for future generations.

One particularly encouraging example of collaboration between Hong Kong and Mongolia is the Global Grant project led by Rotary Club of Zuumood and Rotary Club of Kingspark Hong Kong to build a well station in a local community. While access to clean water is something many of us take for granted, residents in remote areas of Mongolia often need to travel 3 to 5 kilometers to collect safe drinking water. This project provides immediate relief, especially during the harsh winter months, by offering convenient access to water.

I strongly encourage Rotarians in Hong Kong and Macau to continue strengthening partnerships with our Mongolian counterparts. Whether through Global Grants, District Grants, or direct club-to-club projects, there is immense potential for us to unite and create meaningful change. Let’s work together—Hong Kong, Macau, and Mongolia—under the banner of D3450 to serve those in need.

I’d like to highlight “Stand-up Rotary” on September 19. This will be the 1st in a series of Body-Mind-Soul events, led by the dynamic duo PDG Keith Chow and CDS Alexander Cheung. Expect an evening filled with humor, engagement, and entertainment—a perfect opportunity to socialize, strengthen fellowship, and learn more about Rotary in a relaxed setting.

Let’s continue to connect, collaborate, and leverage our networks to promote harmony and service in our communities.

親愛的扶輪行動夥伴們：

八月的每一天都過得無比充實，尤其令人難忘的是在8月21日至26日期間，我前往A9及A10地區，正式展開了3450地區的總監訪問之旅。這是我第四次踏足蒙古，但卻是第一次以國際扶輪3450地區總監的身份進行正式訪問。剛到達便受到當地社友的熱烈歡迎與款待，讓我倍感溫暖。

在與蒙古社友交流的過程中，我欣喜地看到他們推行了許多具影響力且持續惠及當地社區的服務項目。適逢九月是“基本教育與識字月”，好些推行的服務正好與此主題相呼應，包括捐贈圖書館、設立獎學金和改善學校基礎設施等，每一項都切實回應了社區的需要，也為下一代的成長帶來長遠影響。

更令人鼓舞的是，我見證了香港與蒙古扶輪社之間的緊密合作。例如，崇茂德扶輪社與港京扶輪社攜手推動的全球獎助金項目——在當地社區建設供水站。對香港和澳門來說，打開水龍頭即有潔淨的水是再自然不過的事，但在蒙古偏遠地區，居民往往需要步行三至五公里才能取到乾淨的飲用水。這項合作讓居民，尤其在嚴寒的冬天，能夠就近取得食水，切實改善了他們的生活品質。

我衷心期望香港及澳門的扶輪社能繼續與蒙古社加強合作，不論是通過全球獎助金、地區獎助金，或是社與社之間的直接服務，讓我們在3450地區的旗幟下攜手服務、共同改善蒙古社區的生活環境。
