Dear fellow People of Action,

The entire month of September was primarily centered around the District Governor visits, during which I visited Area 5, Area 1, Area 6, Area 11 and Area 8 respectively. I witnessed firsthand the dedication and outstanding performance of each Club President and deeply appreciate the hard work and selfless contributions of every Assistant Governor. I appreciate everyone’s thorough preparation, each visit was filled with inspiration and moving moments, and I am truly proud of the passion and professionalism demonstrated by our Rotarians.

As we step into October, Rotary International has designated this month as Community Economic Development Month. As one of Rotary’s 7 areas of focus and also part of our district’s emphasis on Body-Mind-Soul service, community economic development covers a very broad scope. While we have consistently focused on supporting vulnerable groups, persons with disabilities, and ethnic minorities, it is also important to recognize that many small and medium-sized enterprises today are facing economic pressures and operational challenges. Therefore, I sincerely urge all Rotarians to consume locally, supporting local businesses and enterprises with concrete actions to boost the community economy and help everyone through these difficult times together.

In addition, there are 2 key activities to highlight this month:

The first is Vocational Service Seminar focusing on Information Technology on October 18. This seminar will share insights on the application of artificial intelligence in various industries, as well as explore how Rotary can continue to make an impact in the digital age. Rotarians are warmly encouraged to participate and engage in mutual learning and exchange.

The other highlight is the Dagu Glacier Tour from October 26 to 30. The Dagu Glacier is one of the world’s lowest and youngest modern glaciers, boasting spectacular scenery throughout the four seasons. The itinerary also includes a visit to the Panda Base, where you can observe the adorable giant pandas up close, and a trip to the Wenchuan Earthquake Memorial, offering a profound reflection on resilience and the value of life in the aftermath of disaster. We sincerely invite Rotarians to join this inspiring journey blending nature and culture—overlooking a sea of clouds from the 4,860-meter mountain peak, this will be an unforgettable experience.

With the Mid-Autumn Festival approaching, many Rotary clubs take this opportunity to distribute mooncakes to those in need, spreading warmth and care. This gesture is truly touching, but it also leads me to reflect: the needs of vulnerable groups should not only be addressed during festive seasons. Therefore, I sincerely hope that Rotarians will continue to offer genuine care not only during Mid-Autumn but throughout the ordinary months of the year—whether through a simple home visit, a warm conversation, or any form of companionship and support, so that they may feel the warmth and attention of Rotary even in their everyday lives.

Thank you all for your continuous support and dedication. I sincerely wish you and your families happiness and harmony, under the full moon and in a united home.

In fellowship we serve,

DG Cassy Cheng
