2025 “We Care, We Share” Mental Health Youth Ambassador Programme Kicks Off in Macau

MACAU, October 15, 2025 – The Macau Speaker Association, Rotary Club of Macau, and YMCA of Macau have co-organized the 2025 “We Care, We Share” Mental Health Youth Ambassador Programme cum Macau Secondary School Mental Health Public Speaking Contest, building on the success of last year’s initiative to further promote mental wellness among local youth. The opening ceremony, held at Wynn Macau, attracted nearly 200 participants, including students, representatives from social organizations, and members of the public from across Macau.

In his opening address, Ken So, President of the Macau Speaker Association, highlighted the programme’s continuing impact. “Last year’s initiative successfully helped many secondary students deepen their understanding of mental health issues and express themselves confidently through public speaking. This year, we’re proud to build on that foundation with an expanded programme that reaches even more young people across Macau.” This year’s edition attracted over twenty schools and 80 students. Through a comprehensive series of activities, including training camp, mental health and public speaking workshops, coaching sessions, and competitions, the programme aims to enhance secondary school students’ psychological well-being, communication skills, and presentation abilities while fostering positive attitudes toward life.

The organizers reviewed highlights from last year’s event and invited past award-winning students and outstanding participants to share their experiences. Elvo Sou, Past President of the Rotary Club of Macau, introduced the event schedule and training arrangements, emphasizing that this year’s contest champion and best participant will be invited to attend the Asia-Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand next year, broadening students’ international horizons. The opening ceremony also featured an insightful sharing session by Dr. Lo On Ting, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Lingnan University and Associate Fellow of the Hong Kong Psychological Society, who addressed the important topic of social media addiction awareness among the youth.

The programme continues to serve as a valuable platform for youth development, providing participants with opportunities for personal growth and community engagement while promoting mental health awareness throughout Macau’s educational landscape.
