Mid-Autumn Festival Reunion By Rotary Club of Peninsula Sunrise
As the Mid-Autumn Festival approached, to spread social warmth and care for special groups long-term residing in rehabilitation institutions, on October 4th, a team of members from the Rotary Club of Peninsula Sunrise visited the Guangzhou Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre. They conducted a “Mid-Autumn Warmth Delivery” visitation activity, bringing festive greetings and care to the elderly residents there.
The elderly at the centre are all recovered leprosy patients. Although they have overcome the disease, they have been completely forgotten by their children and have therefore lived here for many years. The rehabilitation centre has long become their “second home”. On the day of the event, the club members brought carefully prepared mooncakes and gifts, handing them to each elderly person individually. They shook hands cordially, chatted with them, inquired in detail about their daily lives and health conditions, and listened attentively to their thoughts.
During lunchtime, everyone sat together with the elderly, sharing a warm meal in a harmonious and joyful atmosphere. After the meal, the members organized simple yet fun interactive games designed specifically for the occasion. The elderly participated actively, with laughter and applause rising one after another, the festive joy infecting everyone present.
The Rotary Club of Peninsula Sunrise stated that this event aimed to break down prejudice and allow the elderly in the rehabilitation centre to feel the warmth of society as one big family, enabling them to enjoy a joyful and peaceful Mid-Autumn Festival. In the future, the Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club will continue to pay attention to the needs of special groups, regularly carry out public welfare visitation activities, fulfill social responsibility through practical actions, transmit the power of love, and call for more people to pay attention to and respect this group, working together to create an inclusive and warm living environment for them.
