
Rotary District 3450 Public Image Seminar Report
On September 27, 2025, Rotary District 3450 proudly hosted a vibrant Public Image Seminar titled “說好扶輪故事” (How to Tell a Good Rotary Story), attracting over 80 enthusiastic Rotarians and Rotaractors. The seminar took place at Chubb Tower, Windsor House in Causeway Bay, providing a dynamic platform for participants to enhance their storytelling skills and embrace modern media trends.
The seminar commenced at 9:30 AM, featuring a lineup of distinguished speakers who shared invaluable insights into effective communication and public image strategies. The event was conducted in Cantonese and was provided free of charge, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.
Key Highlights
The Seminar was kick-stared by District Governor Cassy Cheng emphasizing the importance of public image to demonstrate the core value and impact that Rotary has made for the community. Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator of Zones 1B, 10B & 10C IPDG Nigel Lo reiterated that “People of Action” is more than just messaging. It’s who we are and what we do. Clubs were encouraged not only to work together to mobilize resources and take action to tackle local issues but also to talk about the impact that we made. PDG Nigel also encouraged Clubs to make good use of Rotary Brand Centre to promote the public image of Rotary. PDG Keith Chow, the Chair of District Public Image Chair, shared the work of the committee and the upcoming PoA Photos and REEL competition. Clubs were encouraged to join the competition, and awardees would be recognized in the upcoming Intercity Meeting held on 18 December 2025.



Other than sharing by Rotarians, we have also invited 3 distinguished speakers to share their expertise on “How to Tell a Good Rotary Story” with the audience.
1.See the Trend: Why We Must Embrace Short Videos
Mr. Jones Ng, recognized as the “小紅書第一人”, captivated the audience with his presentation on the importance of short videos in today’s digital landscape. He outlined three core strategies for building high-value personal and group intellectual property (IP), drawing from the latest data and trends. His insights resonated with attendees, emphasizing the necessity of adapting to the evolving media environment to effectively share Rotary’s mission.

2. Elements of a Great Video
Prof. Chiu Ying Chun, the Associate Dean of the School of Communication at Hang Seng University, shared his expertise on creating compelling videos. He elaborated on the essential elements that make a video not only engaging but also impactful. His experience in the media industry provided valuable guidance on how to craft messages that resonate with viewers, thereby enhancing Rotary’s public image.

3. Hands-on Video Workshop
Mr. Sam Sio, an accomplished entrepreneur and transmedia producer, led an interactive workshop that allowed participants to put theory into practice. Attendees learned various filming techniques and had the opportunity to create their own short videos. This hands-on experience was particularly well received, with many participants expressing excitement about utilizing these skills to promote their clubs and initiatives.

The seminar was closed by the Organizing Committee Chair DDS Sayoko Yeung with special thanks to all guest speakers, District leaders and organizing committee members for making this event successful and memorable.
The seminar fostered a spirit of collaboration and creativity among Rotarians and Rotaractors. The combination of expert insights and practical workshops equipped attendees with the tools needed to effectively share their Rotary stories.
