Message from DG Cassy Cheng
Dear fellow People of Action,
As daylight fades and the chill of evening grows—a sign that winter is near—please remember to keep warm and take good care of your health.
By now, I have completed official visits to 106 clubs. Each visit has been inspiring, as I witness the thoughtful preparation of every club, the strong leadership of our presidents, and the heartfelt dedication of our fellow Rotarians. These interactions reminded me once again of the diversity and unity that define our Rotary family.
A particularly memorable experience was the Dagu Glacier Tour in late October. Despite experiencing altitude sickness, I was honoured to represent District 3450 in the conservation and education initiative “Let the Glacier Cool,” initiated by Will Legend, in partnership with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Dagu Glacier Administration Bureau. Standing among the snow-capped peaks, I deeply felt the significance of Rotary’s seventh area of focus: protecting our environment. Our mission is to turn awareness into action, and Dagu Glacier is only the beginning. In the coming years, we will extend this reverence for nature and care for life to the Tianshan Glacier in Xinjiang, jointly establishing the Rotary International District 3450 Glacier Landmark. We will continue to promote climate education, foster cross-cultural dialogue, and work together to create a future where humans and nature coexist in harmony.
November is Rotary Foundation Month, which is a time to recognize and appreciate the contributions of our Foundation. From global grants that provide clean water to district grants that uplift local communities, the Rotary Foundation is the bridge that turns compassion into sustainable impact. I invite every club to share how the Foundation has helped you achieve your service goals. Let us also renew our commitment to EREY—remembering that even the smallest donation can change lives.
Please also save the date and join us for THE ONE Humanitarian Award Ceremony on November 26. We will honour humanitarians who have demonstrated selfless service and celebrate these behind-the-scenes heroes together.
On October 31, I had the pleasure of attending Rotary Club of The Peak’s Anniversary Dinner, witnessing a moving moment: a charter member firmly decided to rejoin Rotary. It was a beautiful reminder that the bonds we build through Rotary never truly fade. The spirit of fellowship stays with us, and sometimes, it gently leads us back right where we belong.
Just days later, the successful launch of the Shenzhou-21 manned spacecraft captured the world’s attention. This remarkable achievement speaks not only to our nation’s determination to break new ground, but also to Rotary’s enduring belief in progress, resilience, and service with purpose. Whether we are reaching for the stars or caring for our communities here on Earth, we are united by the responsibility to shape a better future.
And so, I warmly encourage each of you to take part in our civic journey. On December 7, let’s cast our votes and play a part in building the future we wish to see together, with heart and action.

天氣逐漸轉涼，早晚溫差明顯，還請大家注意保暖，照顧好自己。
至此，我已順利完成對106個扶輪社的正式訪問。每一次拜訪，各社的用心準備、社長的有力領導、社員們在不同崗位上的付出，都讓我深受感動。這些交流讓我再次看到我們扶輪家庭的多元與團結。
十月底的達古冰川之行尤令我難忘。儘管出現高原反應，我仍很榮幸代表3450地區，參與由Will Legend發起的「讓冰川退燒」的保護與教育計劃，並與中國科學院及達古冰川管理局合作。站在白雪覆蓋的山峰間，我深切感受到扶輪第七大焦點領域——「保護環境」的意義。我們的目標，始終是把意識轉化為行動，而達古冰川只是一個起點。未來幾年，我們將把這份對自然的敬畏與對生命的關懷，延伸至新疆天山冰川，共同建立「國際扶輪3450地區第三極冰川地標」，持續推動氣候教育及促進跨文化對話，攜手共創人與自然和諧共生的未來。
十一月是「扶輪基金月」，正是我們再次認識並感謝基金會所作貢獻的時刻。從提供清潔用水的全球獎助金，到改善本地社區的地區獎助金，扶輪基金會正是將善心轉化為持續影響力的橋梁。我鼓勵各社借此機會，分享基金會如何幫助你達成服務目標；也讓我們共同實踐EREY的承諾——即使微小捐助，也能改變生命。
此外，誠邀大家預留時間，參與11月26日舉辦的「THE ONE Humanitarian Award Ceremony」。我們將向那些展現無私服務的人道主義者致敬，共同為這些幕後英雄喝彩。
在10月31日太平山扶輪社的週年晚宴上，我見證了一個動人時刻：一位創社社友堅定地重新加入扶輪。那一刻提醒我們，扶輪的情誼是長存心底，而扶輪精神終會找到回歸之路。
同樣振奮人心的，是早前神舟廿一號載人飛船成功發射、直探星空的壯舉。這不僅彰顯祖國與人類不斷探索，勇於突破的精神；也與扶輪推動社會進步，積極應對挑戰的信念不謀而合。無論是邁向宇宙，還是守護地球，我們都肩負著屬於這個時代的責任。
因此，我懇請大家在12月7日，履行我們作為公民的責任，踴躍投票，以行動參與塑造我們共同的未來。
